to the Costume Shop Replacement Fund. The

 James
Whatley, a 4th grader from Rocky Mount,
meets Eddie Greene, Board Member of the Roanoke
Island Historical Association and Terry Fowler,
Office Manager for The Lost Colony. James
has initiated “Cookies for Colonists” in his
hometown, selling cookies as a fundraiser for

long-standing family tradition for five
generations, James spends summers with his
family on the Outer Banks, and he’s already seen
The Lost Colony four times! James thought of the
fundraising idea when he learned of the news
that fire destroyed the Costume shop, and the
maintenance and storage buildings. The entire
contents of the buildings were lost including
sewing machines, washing machines, props, office
equipment and the majority of the show’s
costumes.
James is experienced at fund raising and has
made a difference in the community by having
also helped raise monies for a classmate who
